Karen Paffendorf's Computer Info

In an effort to learn Python, I wrote a simple pinochle game. I took my card images from PySol. A friend gave me this link for unusual cards. (old link?.) At some point I wondered I serched the web for good strategies. I was more successful at finding rules ( six card racehourse and double deck ) and games ( Internet Pinochle and Network Pinochle ) that others had written before me.

In June 1999, I set up a computer with windows and aol to access this account. To do this I needed some form of secure shell, after checking a few web sites ( Official ssh www page, FAQ, links, ) I tried installing F-secure. The 32 bit windows 95 ssh2 version was not compatible. The 16 bit Windows 3.11 ss1 version works as a terminal but does not provide file transfer. Using ttssh on Tera Ter provides similar functionality for free (documentation). SecureCRT provides a terminal emulator and limited file transfer.

Just got a new toy! (5/97) It's a PalmPilot . Is there a patent problem? Aaron Block gave me a couple of links to look into: Adam's site, stringer, and developement

My setup and good intentions: I just (7/95) installed Linux (additional link) on my Thinkpad 755C with the help of Simon Cooper. (The link still works, but is out of date.) Needed a recent version of boot disk to recognize the floppy drive. Needed a newer version of fdisk to recognize my logical partitions under dos. Also appreciated the knowledge to add linear to lilo.conf for booting from the hard drive. He also helped me get PPP up (8/95). I think there will always be something yet to do: get lpr working, get x windows up, get a zip drive for backups ,... (source code) apps harish ( diald ip adr print )

Want to find time to test some code for FSAs

My parents are expressing interest in seeing what all the fuss is about. Mom found a book in the library with lots of links: Netscape and the World Wide Web for Dummies.

Below are some links that I found useful or wanted to check out. They are organized into the following categories: Web help, PC related, Clubs, Language, and Publishers
